On April 25, 2015 a 7.8 earth quake hit Nepal near the Capital of Kathmandu. Rev. Luke Yelchuri mobilized a group of young people on holiday from college to travel by train to Nepal. Christ Gospel International in the US sent funds for reilef and donations were received from people in Kakinada. The group set up in an area provided for NGOs, Non-Governmental Organizations. Due to the distance they purchased supplies in Nepal to help meet the needs of thousands made homeless by the earthquake. Dr. Eleanor Yelchuri, daughter of Bishop Yelchuri, traveled to Nepal to offer medical care to the poor for several weeks.
An interesting article can be downloaded from the Media section of this website which give an interesting prospective how the people in Nepal responded to Christian organizations that came to help in this time of great need.
